3 Days after buying our new house, and on a day where temperatures were hovering around a chilly -12, my furnace stopped working.
I called Dave to get a "third" opinion, and he stopped by after completing a previous job in the area. His step by step methods to diagnosing my problem was easy to follow, and it made me very confident that he wasn't trying to take advantage of my family in our time of need. It was quite obvious that he found problems that other technicians failed to identify.
Not only would I call Dave if I ever need anything repair or replaced, he's such an easy guy to work with, I'd have him over for a BBQ.

A heating and air company called me a few months ago and offered a free home furnace inspection with no obligation.
I decided to accept their offer.
During the inspection he asked me if I had ever had the fan cleaned and I said no.
He recommended that it should be done every year or two to extend the life of the furnace and to have it run more efficiently.
So far so good. His estimate was $329 plus HST. I asked about how long this cleaning would take and he said about one to one and half hours.
I thought this seems awfully expensive.
I called Tracey at Williams Kool Heat since they are a client of mine.
She informed me it would be less than $100 !
Dave and his son showed up yesterday and unfortunately due to severe neglict on my part there was a thick layer of dust everywhere.
The heat exchanger had developed a crack.
I have been a homeowner for twenty years and have lived in several homes but never longer than 5 years at a time.
Our present home is 12 years old.
I had no idea this type of maintenance is supposed to be done every few years. I faithfully have my oil changed in my cars every 5 000 kms and I faithfully have a transmission flush every 70 000 kms but I never knew about furnace maintenance.
Our electricity bills last summer were over $200/mth for a 1 000 sq. ft. home without a pool or hot tub.
One of the reasons why our electricity bills were so high was due to our air conditioning working inefficiently due to excess dust.
Dave from Williams Heat provided me with many options and didn't try to over sell me.
Dave and his son installed our new furnace the next day and they were prompt, polite and professional.

My 30-year-old viessmann boiler is functioning like new thanks to the skill of Dave Williams of Williams Kool Heat. Last winter when my furnace stopped working in January I called a local company for service. They ordered a replacement part and once it was installed, the furnace started. However, several hours later it did not reignite so I called for further service. From that point on it was like pulling teeth from chickens to get them to return a call, let alone come for repair. After leaving requests for return service on their answering machine over the following two months, several weeks would go by after each call before anyone would call back or show up. It eventually became apparent they were more interested in selling me a new furnace than trying to repair the one I have. Each time they came they did exactly the same thing. Not once did anyone show any creativity or ingenuity and try something different. Ultimately, I never heard from them again, although noone informed me they wouldn't be back. For those 2 months and following I kept warm thanks to multiple space heaters. At the beginning of this winter I called the manufacturer of my furnace to ask if they could recommend a repair person. They suggested I call the Niagara sales rep who is familiar with local service companies. I was pleasantly surprised that he did not try to sell me a new furnace but instead stated it should work for many more years with a competent repairman. He recommended I call Dave Williams of Williams Kool Heat and I couldn't be more grateful. At the end of the first service call Dave warned me that more service might be required. He was correct; the furnace settings required major recalibration, eventually a new part was required and further recalibration, as well as reconfiguring the venting from the furnace to the chimney (inappropriately reconfigured the preceding winter). It was not an easy one visit repair, but thankfully, Dave met the challenge head-on. Each time he clearly explained to me what he had done, and what the next step would be should that repair not be successful. Dave demonstrated considerable knowledge and technical skill related to this furnace, he used creativity of thought and application to resolve multiple issues and demonstrated ongoing patience with my furnace (and me) over several weeks. The past 3 weeks we have had record-breaking cold weather and high winds? a challenge for any furnace to function without breaking down. There hasn't been one hick-up over that time and for no other reason than Dave's skill and effort. Thank you!! Whenever I called to report on the status of a repair, I always spoke with Tracy or Dave. I very much appreciate their personalized customer service. I never had to wonder if a message to an answering machine was heard, or as with another company, was being ignored. Also, when a service call was arranged, Dave showed up on the arranged day and kept me informed of any major delays. The bottom line is, I highly recommend Dave Williams. His expertise, professionalism and workmanship are exceptional.
